I am a current user of AF and have just discovered Agenda One and think it will cover my needs far better being more suited one handed. I am using an ASUS P525 and can't work out how to search my contacts. The input panel is showing T9 but it only searches on numbers not letters. Can anybody help me? If this can't be done on my device I guess its back to AF.

Any solution to this? Searching works with keyboard (soft) but this requires the stylus.Am using ASUS P525.

We search both names and numbers simultaneously from the Contact view. If you scroll down the screen do you see any alpha? Are you using the latest build 1.0.3581 as of 29 Nov 2006 ? What if you change your Preferred Text Entry method (Global Settings)to abc?

Yes I am using build 1.0.3581 as of 29 Nov 2006.
I have no option in Global Settings called "Preferred Text Entry method"

Your device is a Pocket PC, so you will not have that Global setting on your device. We don't have one of those devices, there should be a setting allowing you to use the phone keys to enter letters?

This is becoming very frustrating. When you say I won't have Global Setting on my device do you mean in A1? Because there is. Options--View all Options--Global Settings. There is no preferred Text Entry setting.
If you mean on my device the preferred input is set as T9 and the T9 symbol shows at the bottom of the Contacts view. However it searches on numbers not letters.

Also while in T9 I would normally be able to change to abc,ABC, or 123 using the * key. This is not working in A1.

Hmmm, no answer. Is this not fixable? I have purchased in the belief that it would be.I have now noticed in the default contacts if I start typing straight away the behaviour is the same as A1. That is it only searches on numbers. If however I d-pad up to the entry bar it will search on letters using T9. A1 unfortunately does not have this entry bar.

Hopefully we will be able to have one to send you either today or tomorrow.

As a solution, have you tried to use our Search view to find a contact to see if that allows letter search?

We have been working on a new build but have run into a few snags with the phone pad with a Pocket PC. It is something that we are still working on but it is taking a bit longer than expected.

This is something that we still have on our list, but we has not been easy to address. We have spent a lot of time on it but have not been happy with the results so far. Here is a link to current changes and planned changes:
http://www.developerone.com/agendaone/history.htm
Here is a brief excerpt:
Items that we're working on thanks to your feedback:
Further expand on the Appointment and Task editors to allow setting an end date for recurring items and more recurring pattern types.
Improve handling contact search when using slide-out numeric keypads on Pocket PC devices like the O2 Xda Stealth.

Anything further on this? Contacts is totally useless for me.Almost another month has passed. I have paid for this application on the understanding that it was compatible with the ASUS P525 as advertised on your site. It clearly is not.

After a great deal of time spent on this, there is not a way to interact Agenda One with that type of keyboard within the limitations of how the operating system recognizes (or does not recognize in this case), the type of keyboard you have. This is an issue in the operating system that we have no control over. So, there are two solutions, either use your stylus and the internal Pocket PC keyboard on the screen OR check with the device manufacturer to see if there is a setting you are not aware of that would allow you to manually choose the alpha entry option.

Why was my last post answered but not shown? Anything to do with the fact that you DID advertise the fact that A1 worked with the ASUS P525?

I am sorry you are short staffed I did not know. The fact remains your reply appeared without my post.Following is taken from your website advertising A1 and compatible Pocket PC's.It clearly mentions ASUS P525.I apologise but I presumed it would be completely compatible.I also apologise if my "attitude" offended however on reflection I still believe I am correct.
No I do not want a refund I think the program is excellent and I have recommended it repeatedly. It just is not compatible with the ASUS P525 using the contacts section.

Thank you again for your patience.
This is not an issue that is being put aside, just one that we want to make sure that we deliver the best possible solution for.
In summary: There are a few relatively new Pocket PC (touch-screen) devices on the market that provide a physical numeric-keypad.
The manufacturers/OEMs of these devices do some specific customization to the device to make this work just like the Smartphone (non-touch screen) devices whereby numbers are mapped to letters (i.e. the '2' key is also a/b/c).
On some devices, this information is not readily available to 3rd party applications and thus breaks this particular functionality.
We have examined this in-depth here and have a number of different solutions to the issue, and want to make the resolution as solid as possible.
With that said, we would like to prepare a build of the application with a change for this and would like to get your feedback as to how it works on your specific device.
We'll work to get this build prepared as soon as possible.
May we e-mail you directly in regards to arranging to provide the test build?
Thank you.

Build available for testing
To help resolve the contact key search issue with Pocket PCs (Touch-screen devices) that have slide-out numeric keypads like the O2 Xda Stealth or Asus P525 (this does Not apply to Pocket PC devices with full alpha keypads or devices without keypads)
Download the following CAB and install it on your device.
http://files.developerone.com/agendaone/devoneagendaone_4034.cab
For the purposes of this testing phase, this feature is altered via the options file until we have fully confirmed the fix.
1. Install this build
2. Run once and exit.
3. Copy the agendaone.dat file from the \Program Files\Agenda One folder on your device to your desktop for editing.
4. Open in Notepad
5. Change the line App.PPCKeyMap=0 to App.PPCKeyMap=1
6. Save the file
7. Copy back to your device.
8. Run Agenda One
In the Contact view, you will now be able to use the numeric keypad to search contacts by name where 2=2abc, 3=3def, etc.
i.e. to Find "Nancy" you may key in 62629
Please let us know how this works for you.

Hi,
i am testing out agenda one because i am searching for a comfortable way to do a call / searching contact (using a Asus P525, too). Unfortunately your cab doesnt work for me :(. Maybe there is a need for integrating a text input bar (like the search field)? Or did i missed a thing?
Thanks in advance

What specifically do you mean by 'CAb does not work for me' -- did you have trouble putting the CAB on your device / installation trouble? OR, are you unable to use the program with your keyboard and that is the only issue? Thank you for clarification.

It didn't work for me either, using ASUS P525. Installation went fine and everything else works as expected. Contact search does not work by letters only by numbers.

There was a new test build that we sent out to a few people that resolved the issue. We will have these changes in our next build. You will find the .CAB file for installation directly to your device here:
http://files.developerone.com/agendaone/devoneagendaone_4034.cab (http://files.developerone.com/agendaone/devoneagendaone_4034.cab)
After installation you will need to edit the agendaone.dat file and make the following change: App.PPCKeyMap=1
You may need to copy the agendaone.dat file to your desktop to do the editing and then copy it back to your device.

Which is the current status of this issue? I saw there where many releases in the meantime, unfortunately I cannot test current version because I get a message the test period is over (there was a test version long time ago on my p525).
I dont want to buy and and notice that this (important) feature is not working yet (so Agenda One is needless to me)

I use HTC TYTN II. If I'm using english layout it seems that typing for example letter "G" it's like russian "Г", but using Russian layout goes to the result that mo matching contact is found
